Elf on the Shelf

The sweetest thing happened last Saturday that I thought I'd share. Our family has "The Elf on the Shelf". For those of you who don't know what it is, it's an elf that comes with a story. Your family reads that story and names the elf. After that at Christmas time each year your elf becomes magical. At night when everyone's sleeping he comes to life and flys back to Santa to tell him if the family was good or bad that day. You aren't suppose to touch him or it could make his powers go away. On Saturday, Kassidy had a couple of neighbor girls over and she was telling them about our special elf, FRIEND(that's his name). She told them you couldn't touch him or his power would disappear. Well, one of her friend decided to touch him anyway. Kassidy through a fit, started crying and sent her friends home. I was at the store when this happened. She called me on the phone and was so upset. She went and found her dad and told him what had happened. She was still sobbing. It broke her heart that her FRIEND was going to loose his powers. We sat her down and reread the story and showed her where it said that his powers "Might" leave. We tried to assure her that her friend had not read the story so his powers would probably not leave. It took awhile for her to calm down. Needless to say, FRIEND did not loose his powers. It showed up in a different spot the next morning. She was so relieved. Kasssidy has such a tender heart. Sometimes you miss seeing it because she's so loud. We love her!
